Weekly Spotlights

Our Scholarship Spotlight highlights the story behind the award—whether it honors a legacy, supports a specific field of study, or uplifts a particular community. By featuring a different scholarship each week, we aim to show the depth and diversity of opportunities available to our students.

Our Scholar Spotlight celebrates the individuals who make Central Scholarship proud—resilient, passionate, and purpose-driven students who are making the most of their education. These scholars represent a wide range of backgrounds and dreams, and their journeys inspire us all.

Follow along weekly as we share the stories that define our mission: opening doors to higher education and empowering the next generation of changemakers.

Our featured scholar this week is Deborah Drennon recipient the Stulman Foundation Scholars Grant!

Deborah is currently in school for her Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. She previously graduated with an associate degree in general studies from Montgomery College, going on to pursue a bachelor's degree in psychology from UMBC and an M.A in Professional Psychology from William James College. She is also currently working as a school psychologist for Prince George’s County Public Schools. She aspires to help underserved populations heal from trauma with a particular interest in understanding how adverse childhood experiences (ACE's) impact mental health and well-being as adults. She dreams of one day opening a rehabilitation facility for individuals struggling with substance abuse or potentially becoming a professor to advance the counseling profession.

The Stulman Foundation Scholars Grant is one of many scholarships offered by Central Scholarship to help close the tuition gap of students and ensure that they are able to pursue their educational goals. To learn more about this scholarship, please visit our Scholarship Directory.
