August is National Make-A-Will Month: Plan Your Legacy & Support Education

Written by Nya Justis | Aug 11, 2025 1:14:42 PM

August is National Make-A-Will Month, the perfect time to take an important step toward securing your future and protecting the people and causes you care about.

Creating or updating your Will doesn’t have to be overwhelming. In fact, it can bring peace of mind, reduce uncertainty, and ensure your wishes are honored. Whether you’ve been putting it off for years or just need to make a few updates, this month is a great reminder to take action.

Three Simple Steps to Get Started

  1. Make a list of your assets — Everything from real estate and bank accounts to personal possessions and digital property.
  2. Name your beneficiaries — Decide who will inherit your assets, including family, friends, and charitable organizations.
  3. Select an executor — Choose someone you trust to carry out your wishes.

Once you’ve made these decisions, you can draft your Will using trusted resources. Two great options include:

  • FreeWill.com — A free service providing legally binding wills in all 50 states, created in a little as 20 minutes.
  • GetYourShitTogether.org — A great resource for information about being prepared, and protected, in the worst-case scenario. A free six-week class is starting in the fall; reserve your spot now for weekly, one-hour small group sessions to get all of your questions answered,

Leave a Legacy Through Education
